Off the field with Chris...
During his free time, Chris enjoys listening to music or going to the movies with friends, plays wiffle ball and works out with his dad after baseball practice. Chris is also a lifeguard for his local YMCA and played varsity basketball his sophomore year before deciding to focus on baseball this past season. Chris feels that making the Aflac roster is by far his greatest achievement. “I feel that this is validation for all my hard work and effort. I have come a long way from the boy who could not make the little league team.”

Role models...
Chris' Role model in baseball is Joe Vall-Llobera. Joe is one of the captains of Chris' Westfield High baseball team. During the 2007 off-season, Joe suffered a serious back injury while skiing. Since then, he's made an unbelievable comeback. In the first round of Westfield's county tournament, Joe got the first hit of his senior season. He fought off nine pitches before hitting a line-drive single over the shortstop's head – the greatest team moment Chris has experienced.

Overcoming obstacles...
Chris' greatest gift was a curse in his younger years. While he was always the biggest kid in school, he was also one of the clumsiest. Chris used to get discouraged because he was often picked on and never made the baseball team. With support from his friends and family, he persevered. All of his hard worked has paid off and he is now one of the top pitchers in the nation.
