Day One: Player Arrivals and Welcome Dinner


The week of activities has begun for players in the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic. It began with them checking in and then being fitted for their game uniforms and practice gear. But the highlight of the day was the welcome dinner and orientation session.

Here five players were honored Wednesday night for their individual excellence at showcases conducted this summer by Perfect Game – the selection partner for the Aflac All-American Classic. The winners of the awards are as follows:

  • Top Prospect: RHP Jameson Taillon (The Woodlands High School), The Woodlands, Texas
  • Top Defensive Player: INF Tony Wolters (Ranch Buena Vista High School), Vista, Ca.
  • Top Tools: RHP/INF Justin O’Conner (Cowan Junior/Senior High School), Muncie, Ind.
  • Top Pitcher: RHP Andrew Cole (Oviedo High School), Winter Springs, Fla.
  • Top Hitter: INF Kris Bryant (Bonanza High School), Las Vegas, Nev.

Thursday is a big day for the Aflac All-Americans. They begin the day at stunningly beautiful University of San Diego campus for their first practice. After lunch, the players board buses for their visit with the kids at Rady Children’s Hospital. The players will wrap up the day with outing to Dave and Busters and shooting player introduction video for the Fox Sports Net broadcast Sunday.
