Smelter is a highly athletic 6-2, 205 lb right hander from Macon, Georgia. He has one of the smoothest deliveries and arm actions in the 2010 class and regularly throws in the 92-95 mph range with his fastball. Smelter's fastball looks even faster to hitters because of how easily the ball comes out of his hand and he's able to spot his fastball and repeat his delivery well. Smelter is primarily a fastball pitcher at this point but will occasionally mix in a low 80's split finger change up with good tumble and a upper 80's slider with short cutting action. He has been in good hands as his coach is former MLB star pitcher Kevin Brown who pitched 19 years in the Big Leagues. Smelter should be one of the top draws in the class for MLB scouts. He has "sky is the limit" talent.
