Whitson is a long and angular 6-4, 190 lb right hander from the Florida Panhandle. He has a busy but well coordinated delivery and his arm action is very tension free and fast. Whitson is a primary fastball pitcher and has the ability to command his 92-96 mph fastball to different spots in the strike zone. His breaking ball is a low 80's slider that has good hard late biting action. Whitson is the nephew of former big league right hander Ed Whitson. He has given a verbal commitment to the University of Florida. He is one of the top high school pitchers for next years draft and could become a very early pick.
