A little bit about Mychal...
Mychal Givens is a shortstop at H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, FL. When he's not playing baseball, he's usually listening to music, watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, reading or spending time with his friends. Mychal is also involved in his community – he helps coach at Little League parks. At H.B. Plant, Mychal maintains a full schedule; in addition to varsity baseball, he also plays basketball and is a peer mediator, a school executive board member, a member of the student advisory committee and a teacher's assistant.

Mychal feels that his greatest achievement is seeing how all of his hard work and dedication thus far is preparing him for the next stages in his baseball career. When asked about how he feels about being named an Aflac All-American, he said, "I fee extremely honored and I will treasure the opportunity given to me. I am proud to represent my family and Tampa, FL."

Role models...
Mychal admires Ken Griffey, Jr. because of his strong work ethic, great personality on and off the field and his ability to overcome obstacles while maintaining a positive attitude. He also looks up to Griffey, Jr. for his strong relationship with his father, another great baseball player. Mychal also looks up to his great-grandfather for sparking his interest and love of baseball as a toddler.

• Set three school-records freshman year with 44 RBI's, 9 Homeruns and a .580 batting average
