The 5-10, 175 lb Rowland is one of the premier defensive catchers in the country. A former middle infielder, Rowland has excellent quickness behind the plate and the soft, sure hands of former shortstop. He has excellent arm strength and is consistently in the 1.80 to 1.85 range on his throws to second base. Offensively, Rowland is a high average hitter with a quick left handed swing that shoots line drives to all fields. He comes from an outstanding baseball background as his father, Don, is a cross checker for the New York Yankees and a past scouting director for the Los Angeles Angels. Rowland is a first round candidate defensively and as he gets bigger and stronger anything is possible.
