A left handed pitcher from Mission Viejo, CA, Tyler Matzek prides himself on his rank as the #2 high school prospect in the nation according to pgcrosschecker.com. In his free time, Tyler enjoys going to the beach, mountain biking, going to the movies, playing video games, watching television and working out. He also volunteers in his community – for the past three years Tyler has volunteered with the Cedars-Sinai Center Tennis Tournament. The tournament raises money for the Anna & Max Webb & Family Diabetes Center in Beverly Hills, CA. While Tyler has never volunteered or been involved with a children's hospital, he says he is looking forward to the opportunity he will have to do so during the Aflac All-American game week. When not on the baseball diamond, Tyler still enjoys playing sports including football and basketball.

Role models...
Tyler's MLB Role model is Derek Jeter because he is a great player who loves the game and gives back to people though his foundation. For all else, Tyler's Role models are his parents, because they have taught him how to make good decisions in his life while always encouraging him to do his best. He also looks up to his older brother Ryan. Tyler says Ryan keeps him positive when he gets down and keeps him balanced through good and bad times.
