Off the field with Zack...
Zack Wheeler would consider himself a little bit superstitious – he had a pair of cleats for the 2007 summer season that had a hole in the toe, but he refused to get rid of them until after the season was over. A talented baseball player, Zack is also talented in other areas – he lettered on East Paulding's Varsity basketball team as both a sophomore and a junior. While he is also good at basketball, pitching skills are what run in Zack's family; his brother Adam was drafted in 2001 by the New York Yankees and played for four years with the Yankees organization. Personally, Zack considers his greatest achievement earning the confidence of his late coach Ronnie Green to start a state playoff game as a sophomore. In the classroom, his favorite subjects are economics and math.
Role models...
Zack's brothers and father are his Role models because they let him know when he is doing something wrong, while also boosting him to do better and work harder.
Hit PLAY on his MP3 player and you might hear...
country, rock and pop.
Catch him before a game and you'll find him...
putting on his favorite holey socks that he wears in every game since the summer of ‘07 and he refuses to wear new ones.
Family ties...
Zack's brother Adam Wheeler was drafted in 2001 and was in the NY Yankees organization for four years before getting hurt.
He's kind of a big deal...
